Senior Advisor, NT Government and Communications

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Government Affairs and Communications, the Senior Advisor, NT Government and Communications is accountable for supporting impactful and timely NT Government engagement to progress project outcomes (approvals, permits, funding etc) and influencing regulatory, policy and legislative outcomes to support and progress the project. The position will also drive NT media engagement and develop external communications to ensure clarity of messaging across the Australia, Indonesia, and Singapore markets.

The scope for this position covers:

  • Facilitate development agreements and project requirements with the NT Government.
  • Develop and deliver strategies to strengthen SunCable’s position with Government.
  • Partner across SunCable’s workstreams to support effective engagement with relevant NT Government agencies, departments, and local councils.
  • NT Government policy monitoring; developing submissions to progress project activities.
  • Participation in Government and industry working groups where relevant.
  • Managing NT media and events, and coordinating communications across Australia, Indonesia and Singapore teams.

Key Deliverables

  • Support development and delivery of government relations strategy and outcomes at NT and local levels where required.
  • Partner with project teams to effectively engage with NT government agencies and regulators to deliver project milestones and outcomes (approvals, permits, licences).
  • Positively influence NT Government agencies and departments across policy, regulatory, and legislative changes to optimise support for and progress the project.
  • Build and maintain an extensive network of political, government and media contacts for SunCable and its project(s) in Darwin and the regions.
  • Interface with the NT Government Major Projects Team to support development activities, coordinate briefings, and supporting the Project Control Group.
  • Produce briefs and materials for government, political, and media engagement.
  • Work across SunCable teams to develop government and policy submissions.
  • Support community consultation programs and industry events.
  • Manage NT media, and coordinate with Corporate Affairs team on national and international media as required
  • Coordinate integration of communications conferences and events between the Australia, Indonesia and Singapore teams
  • Other duties as required.

Experience

  • Extensive experience across government relations, stakeholder management, advocacy, policy review and development, public affairs, communications and media, and political advisory, ideally with the NT Government.
  • Engage with stakeholders in complex project environment, building and progressing project and company profile with NT Government’s regulatory agencies.
  • Demonstrate how built, fostered and maintained extensive network of political, government, and media contacts, and how used to progress outcomes.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Public Relations, Economics, Communications, or related discipline.
  • Relevant postgraduate degree desirable but not essential.
